Soft Tissue Therapies
Massage at Southcote is a high-quality service incorporating many different soft tissue therapies and techniques
You can contact the clinic direct for a massage treatment or may be referred for massage therapy by your Chiropractor.
In many cases, massage supports the work of both the chiropractic clinic and the rehabilitation and exercise centre through specialised and focused treatment of the soft tissue aspects of any condition.
This can often improve the response to treatment and reduce injury recovery time and/or enhance the pain management experience.
Swedish massage is based on the Western concepts of anatomy and physiology as opposed to energy work that is more common in Asian-style massage.
One of the primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart.
Furthermore, we offer therapeutic massage techniques specifically for expectant or recent mothers and for lymphatic drainage as well as purely relaxing massages.
Therapeutic Body Massage
This involves working the soft tissue of the body where knots, tension and muscle tightness occur. By working into and around these areas, Therapeutic Body Massage can help to ease stress and muscular tension, thereby promoting relaxation and allowing your body to recuperate. Comprising techniques such as Shiatsu, Swedish, Daoyin Tao, Deep Tissue, Thai, Lomi Lomi, Acupressure and Reflexology, the Massage works along bands of tension in the body, helping to free blockages and tightness caused by both physical and emotional tension, and helping to increase delivery of blood and oxygen to the treated areas.
