Hypnotherapy

Paula Teakle is the most recent addition to the team at Southcote.

She is a fully qualified and insured Hypnotherapist, registered with the Hypnotherapy Society.

Day dreaming is a form of self hypnosis, whereas hypnotherapy guides you in a natural state to a realisation you somehow so far have been unable to achieve unaided.

Many of us struggle for years to conquer our bad habits and our fears, and willpower alone is not always enough.

During hypnotherapy you will be fully aware of everything that takes place and will remain in control at all times. Whilst in a hypnotic state your subconscious mind is open to positive suggestions. Our subconscious is where we store all the experiences and memories which have shaped our beliefs, our behaviours and the way that we view our world.

Hypnosis - on and off the field.

Hypnotherapy

The use of hypnosis to enhance performance is by no means new and has been used in sports for a while now.

Many athletes and sporting professional have turned to such methods in sports psychology to fine - tune their performance.

Sports performance is as much about what's going on in your head as what's going on in your body.

Of course this is the case with other kinds of performance too and you don't have to be an athlete or champion to use hypnosis. Hypnotherapy can help you to focus on success - whatever that means to you - through overcoming mental blocks and barriers and reinforcing self-belief, motivation and positive thinking.

Self-hypnosis techniques using mental imagery and rehearsal of future success can be learned by anyone and our sessions will teach you such techniques to reinforce the work done in the clinic.

In sport, most of the people coming to visit Hypnotherapists tend to be those wishing to improve their golf. However, hypnosis can be equally useful with all kinds of individual and team sports.

Sports hypnosis sessions will help you focus your mind so that, whatever field of sports you engage in, you get the very best from yourself, physically, mentally, and emotionally, creating the attitudes and determination that can take you to the next level.

As a sports person you spend long enough training your body - why not spend a little time on your brain?

Stop Smoking - Lose Weight

One 2-hour session is usually enough to help you stop smoking, whereas weight loss will take longer to achieve. However, both of these are typical examples of the fact that hypnosis can only help people who genuinely want to be helped.

Worried about Childbirth?

Hypnosis for childbirth helps with more than just the birth itself. From helping you to relax to improve the chances of a successful conception, through morning sickness relief to coping with breastfeeding and lack of sleep. Whatever your concerns may be, I would be happy to discuss them with you in complete confidence.

Common Misconceptions!

You will not cluck like a chicken - or anything else you may have seen people do in stage shows. After the session you will feel very relaxed but refreshed, as if you have had a nice sleep. You may remember all, or only some, of the hypnotic session. You may have been aware of a floating or sinking sensation or just have felt a little disconnected from reality for a while. You may have felt nothing at all.

Everybody reacts to hypnosis in their own way, no reaction is a wrong reaction.

Hypnotherapists cannot read your mind, so you need to be prepared to be as open and honest as possible so the treatment can be tailored to you with all the necessary information acquired.
