Gait Analysis

Your feet are designed to protect and support you through each step.  A small abnormality in foot structure or function can have a large impact on joints of the whole body as it compensates and possibly misaligns higher up . This can in this way cause pain and discomfort in many areas other than the feet.

We have a TOG Gait Scan system, which allows detailed assessment of the role of your feet and gait pattern in any problem you may have.

Orthotics are inserts that comfortably fit into shoes; they are designed to support and improve the functioning of feet. We often prescribe orthotics to patients suffering from chronic foot or lower limb problems or to athletes to help maximize performance during sport.
Gait Analysis & Orthotic Prescription
How does it work?

1. Scans foot
As you walk across the plate, thousands of tiny sensors capture the distribution of pressure throughout the sole of your foot over time.

2. Maps foot pressure
From your step, the computer then displays on its screen 2-D and 3-D visual representations of the pressures under your feet.

3. Creates report
The report findings help your chiropractor evaluate your foot function and determine if the symptoms you are experiencing are related to faulty foot mechanics.

4. Determines any need for therapy
Using this information together with other clinical tests the chiropractor will determine your need for orthotics or other interventions relating to your gait pattern.

Exercises, off-the-shelf insoles or custom-made orthotics are some of the options available. The Gait Scan system is linked direct to a prescription system through which we can order custom-made orthotics to realign and stabilise the bones in your feet to relieve discomfort and restore your natural walking pattern.
